“I slept with faith and found a corpse in my arms on awakening; I drank and danced all night with doubt and found her a virgin in the morning.” – Aleister Crowley
This blog contains what to some will be controversial and unbelievable ideas and theories. The purpose of the blog is not, however, to convince the reader that these ideas are correct. I will neither confirm nor deny if I actually believes the ideas contained herein. What you can be sure of is that I try to present, as best I can, epistemological backbones of our ideas and to remain as open and simultaneously objective as possible.
In a world where people fail to question the hegemony of the status quo it is imperative that alternate ideas are considered. Of course, the ideas contained in this blog are far from alternate in the view of the author, but rather the fruits of much research and thought into our current human condition and the factors driving our progress. To the status quo, anything that challenges its primacy is immediately labeled as “alternate” at best, though I’ve heard many great works by notable authors labeled as far worse. This is the fiction we live.
We live in a society dominated by the materialist-rationalist paradigm and science is our divine art. It is just that – a paradigm and an art and certainly not the cosmological truth of the universe. The purpose of science is not to discount all other ways of understanding the world, but merely to provide an objective, quantifiable view of reality when such is necessary. I doubt many would argue there are times when the subjective, qualitative view of reality is necessary and quite productive, as when it is quite objective perhaps to let a man drown in the ocean rather than risk one’s life to save him, or resist talking to a beautiful woman at a club rather than risk ones pride in the fear of rejection. Regret is easily slain if one does not let their objectivity cloud their true nature.
That being said, proper scientific analysis is a testament to the brilliance and ingenuity of mankind. However, with the scientific community growing corrupt and many results altered on the basis of where researchers derive their funding from, science is not as objective as many would think. At the same time, cutting edge science is lending credibility and/or creating the possibility of actions and ideas that were once written off as incredulous. Much of this blog is focused on bridging the gap between objective and subjective and quantitative and qualitative to demonstrate not only the importance of scientific results but the necessity of subjective views of reality to better make use of objective scientific developments and models.
First and foremost this blog is about empowering the individual. Reality is a subjective process and it is self limiting to define it as objective and let the status quo, or anyone but yourself, dictate your reality. Your life is your personal reality and you can do whatever you want with it. It is understood that there are some truths to life and shared factors to reality across individuals. However, many of these factors need to be explored and many of our realities need to be redefined as we face a radical shift in what it means to be human.
I will attempt to discuss, interpret, and ties together many concepts and theories and I hope that you, the reader, will at least be superficially acquainted with such theories. Those who are already working with magick or contemporary shamanism will find many new ideas to utilize in the application of such esoteric arts to individual progress. Those who are involved with more mainstream practices such as information technology, finance, marketing, and anthropology will find the ideas discussed of large importance both in the present and future of these evolving fields.
Finally, I want you, the reader, to be challenged to expose the core of your being. Forgive the cliché, but I am not writing this blog to preach to the choir, nor did I set out to pander to the masses. I want you to think critically and openly about the world around you, about the culture you inhabit, and about the future of our species. Only together can we form and execute a vision for what we are to become.
